Workshops, after school, and summer camps!

Week-long Summer Camp Programs

Choose from eight different options, or join us for multiple weeks! Each week we will dive into a new topic within design. Every program will include theme-related field trips, guest presenters, hands on prototyping, time outside to play, and individualized attention.

All programs Ages 8 – 12

Camp begins at 9:00 am with drop-off beginning at 8:45 am.
Early Bird drop-off beginning at 8:00 am. Staggered pick-up begins at 3:45 pm. Extended Day pick-up until 5:00 pm.

Week 1: Transit Magic

June 30 - July 03, 2025

Industrial Design
This four day design camp is a playful mix of design fields as kids explore commuter trains, interiors, engineering, and transportation systems around the world. Activities include kinetic play, material testing, a field trip to the Transportation Museum, concept presentation and model making for a redesigned subway car.


Week 2: Amusement Park Design

June 07 - June 11, 2025

Architecture
We’ll explore the possibilities of rides designed for different audiences. Kids will build empathy and learn to design for a specific audience as they imagine how to maximize fun for different age groups, climates, and interests. Activities include drawing, kinetic play, a Coney Island field trip, a design proposal, model making, and a presentation.


Week 3: Game Makers

July 14 - July 18, 2025

Game Design
Kids will invent new strategies for group play. We’ll play field games, create obstacle courses, and act in theater games. Students will then design their own games for the whole class to try out. Activities include physical play, field trips, field games, and game creation.


Week 4: Tree House Design

July 21 - July 25, 2025

Architecture
Tree houses offer kids an exciting opportunity to explore the relationship between architecture and nature. We’ll explore the physics of these suspended abodes with prototyping and testing, and children will design their own treehouse – the wilder the better! Activities include 3D building, field trips, and model making.


Week 5: Olympic Dreams

July 28 - August 01, 2025

Fashion Design Graphic Design
Kids will design their Olympic dream team uniforms, gear, ceremonial attire, logo and mascot. Their creations will form a cohesive visual system and a unique team identity. Activities include sketching, croquis drawings, painting, field trips, and presentation.


Week 6: The Movie Poster

August 04 - August 08, 2025

Graphic Design
Kids will explore painting, printmaking, collage, and typography as they create a custom movie poster. They’ll learn to create strong visuals in different mediums and design custom typefaces. Activities include sketching, typographical explorations, field trips, color theory exercises, and presentation.


Week 7: Capsule Collection for the Future

August 11 - August 15, 2025

Fashion Design
In this fashion design camp we’ll design clothing for an imagined future. We’ll explore how what we wear might be different when we’re living with different technology, transportation systems, and social norms. Activities include sketching, moodboard making, croquis drawings, field trips, and presentation.


Week 8: Design Your Dream School

August 18 - August 22, 2025

Architecture
What if you had to build a school on Mars? What if you created a school just for circus families? Or super heroes? We’ll explore designing schools for wildly different communities and contexts. Activities include 3D model making, a field trip, design critique, and presentation.
